The end of the road awaits Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid following the Italian manager's four-year tenure at Santiago Bernabeu.

Ancelotti was first appointed by Real Madrid in 2013 and continued till 2015. His second stint started in 2021, and now, he has revealed his departure from the Spanish giants on May 26.

Ancelotti, who is regarded as one of the greatest football managers of all time, has coached 10 teams and won 30 trophies across different leagues and clubs. He has lived up to that with Real Madrid as well.

However, things took a turn for the worse for Real Madrid this season, despite their star-studded squad, which includes the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, among others. Ancelotti also had to deal with several injuries throughout the campaign and is now left without a chance of bagging any silverware.

While initially contracted with Real Madrid until June 2026, Ancelotti's exit from Santiago Bernabeu came way earlier. The 65-year-old has also confirmed he would become Brazil national team's new head coach following his second stint at Los Blancos.

While at a press conference ahead of Real Madrid's game with Mallorca on May 14, Ancelotti mentioned (comments via ESPN) that the club will officially announce his departure when 'it's the right time' for them.

"Madrid will publish a statement when they want to, there's no problem there. They'll do it when it's the right time for Real Madrid ... [Brazil] is a big challenge, but until May 26 I'm still Madrid coach," he said.

"I want to end the final stage of this fantastic adventure well. Out of the respect I have for this club, the fans and players, I'm totally focused," he said.

"Football, like life, is an adventure that begins and ends. When you arrive at Real Madrid, you know that one day it's over... I want to end things well here, that's what my professionalism demands," added Ancelotti.
