Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo will reach the milestone of 1000 career goals. However, he wants Ronaldo to invite him for the celebration of the historic feat.

Ronaldo, 40, is the leading scorer in men's football history, with 953 strikes for club and country. Nearly half of those goals (450) came during a hugely productive spell with Los Blancos between 2009 and 2018, with Ancelotti in charge for two of those nine seasons.

Now in charge of the Brazil national team, the legendary Italian shared his thoughts on Ronaldo's chances of becoming the first to score 1000 career goals. Ancelotti said with a laugh (Diarioas via Madrid Xtra):

"He's going to do it, for sure. Have no doubt he'll achieve it. In Italy, they recently asked me about Modric and his 40 years, and I told them that, of course, he was going to play well at Milan. "Luka and Cristiano are professionals who love football and are passionate about the sport. They will always achieve whatever they want. Cristiano will surely reach 1,000 goals, but when he does, he shouldn't forget to invite me to the celebration of that incredible record."

Ronaldo is off to a decent start to the 2025-26 season with Al-Nassr, scoring 10 times and providing an assist in 11 games across competitions. He has also netted five times in four games in Portugal's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a superb first season under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid more than a decade ago. The Portugal captain scored 51 times and provided 17 assists in 47 games across competitions in the 2013-14 season.

That included a record 17 strikes in 11 outings in the UEFA Champions League as Los Blancos won their long-awaited La Decima, beating arch-rivals Atletico Madrid 4-1 in extra time in the Lisbon final. Ronaldo also scored thrice in Madrid's victorious Copa del Rey campaign and 31 times in La Liga, where they finished third.

In the 2014-15 campaign, Ronaldo fared even betted, plundering 61 strikes and 23 assists in 54 games across competitions. Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup but finished second in La Liga, where the Portuguese scored 48 times.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos' UEFA Champions League title defence ended in the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Juventus despite Ronaldo scoring in each leg.
