The St. Louis Cardinals are in an interesting position.
To sell or not to sell? That is the ultimate question.
That question will have an answer in the next few months after the president of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom, makes a decision.
The Cardinals are exceeding expectations, and ESPN's Bradford Doolittle notes that the organization could be "aggressive" at the trade deadline, despite their low chances of winning a World Series.
"But if St. Louis keeps this up and remains in solid playoff position by late July, then Bloom and his staff must determine how aggressive they want to be in what was supposed to be a rebuilding season," Doolittle wrote.
"This is a question that is especially tough to navigate given the strength of the teams that figure to rank ahead of St. Louis in the NL pecking order," he added. "Getting into the postseason seems doable for this Cardinals team; doing anything of substance once they get there is another matter."

Lars Nootbar just returned from the injured list, and there will be other players on the roster who could fetch decent trade returns.
Doolittle mentioned relievers Riley O'Brien and JoJo Romero as possibilities.
But St. Louis has not chosen a direction for 2026. The organization may be shocked that the roster that's in place has been performing the way they have.
