The St. Louis Cardinals completed two trades on Wednesday night, the day before the trade deadline. Those two deals involved two relievers, with the first involving Ryan Helsley to the New York Mets, and the second sending Steven Matz to the Boston Red Sox.
In that Matz deal, the Cardinals traded for Red Sox prospect Blaze Jordan, a first base prospect who, at 22 years old, was hitting extremely well at Double-A and Triple-A before being traded.
After being dealt to St. Louis, Jordan shared a five-word message with Cardinals fans: "St. Louis lets do it!!!"

— Blaze Jordan (@Blaze_j24) July 31, 2025Jordan, in his 88 games in the minors this season between Double-A and Triple-A, had a .308 batting average with an .872 OPS. In Triple-A, while he took a step back from his Double-A production, he has still been very solid.
He played 44 games in both Double-A and Triple-A, and had a .928 OPS and an .821 OPS, respectively. But, in those 44 games, he hit the same number of home runs (six) and doubles (11) in both levels.

While he played in the same number of games, he has 21 more at-bats in Triple-A than he did in Double-A. The new Cardinals first baseman has been impressive in the minors and now joins a young Cardinals team looking to retool at the deadline.
The Mississippi native is back home and has a chance to be a contributor for the Cardinals in the future, as the team is selling off a lot of its veterans at the deadline.
His hometown isn't the only connection he has with the Cardinals organization. Chaim Bloom, who is taking over as president of baseball operations in 2026, drafted Jordan in 2020 when he was with the Red Sox.
Jordan's message to St. Louis fans is a short one, but a nice gesture from a prospect who has yet to make his big league debut.
