The St. Louis Cardinals will have a special visitor this weekend when they take on the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium.
John Denton of MLB.com reports that Yadier Molina, who won two World Series with the Cardinals during his 19-year career in St. Louis, will be in uniform and in the dugout today and tomorrow. He was scheduled to be in the area this weekend for a business trip, when Manager Oliver Marmol invited him to the ballpark.
Yadier Molina, a #STLCards legend from 2004-22, will be in uniform and in the Cards dugout tonight and Saturday when they play the Cubs, manager Oliver Marmol said. Scheduled to be in St. Louis this weekend for business, Molina was invited by Marmol to be in the Cards' dugout.

A 10-time All-Star and nine-time Gold Glove winner, Molina is considered one of the best defensive catchers of all time. He currently is the manager of the Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Professional Baseball League and hopes to one day be a manager in MLB. He’ll get some more Major League experience—albeit from a different angle—this weekend.
“I think it will be a really, really cool experience for a lot of reasons,” Marmol said, per Denton. “It’s great for the organization, the players and the fanbase.”
St. Louis (58-58) is in the midst of a middling season that saw them gut its bullpen at the trade deadline for six minor league prospects. The Cubs, meanwhile, hold the top NL Wild Card spot at 66-48.
The Cardinals were a perennial contender with Molina from 2004-2022, making the postseason 12 times and winning championships in 2006 and 2011. But St. Louis has failed to make the playoffs since earning their 12th Central Division title in 2022, going 212-228 (.482) over the last two-plus seasons.
