This weekend is a big one in boxing, as some of the biggest names in the sport will step into the ring for their next fights.
There is perhaps no bigger name in the sport than Canelo Alvarez, as the 34-year-old has totaled a 62-2-2 record throughout his career. Most recently, Alvarez defeated Edgar Berlanga in September of 2024, one of two fights that Alvarez won last year and his fifth straight victory overall.
Next, Alvarez is taking on a new challenge by fighting William Scull on Saturday. However, this fight has the unique setting of Saudi Arabia, and it comes with the added benefit of being backed by Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority.
Alvarez reportedly signed a deal with Riyadh that commits him to four fights over the course of the contract, so Alvarez is likely getting well-compensated for his role in boxing's new landscape.
Scull, on the other hand, is relatively lesser-known compared to Alvarez, but he comes into the fight with an undefeated 23-0 record, setting up an anticipated fight with his counterpart.
