Candace Parker drops painful truth on Chicago Sky star Angel Reese's place in the WNBA

Despite a woeful start to her campaign, Angel Reese has quickly blossomed into one of the better front-court players in the WNBA.

With the Chicago Sky narrowly avoiding the gutter of the Eastern Conference, the team has designed the offensive attack to run through Reese on the low block, who has responded by averaging a relatively efficient 18 points in July.

This recent stretch of impressive play earned Reese her second consecutive All-Star game nod, and she's earning her place as one of the young faces of the league on a meteoric rise.

Yet one legendary hooper is still hesitant to rank Reese alongside some of the W's premier names.

On a recent edition of her "Post Moves Podcast," Candace Parker set the record straight on her opinion of the Sky forward.

"Are you taking Angel above Paige Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, Sabrina Ionescu, Kelsey Plum, Caitlin Clark, A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, or Breanna Stewart?" Parker asked. "No. That does not make her a bad player. That does not make me a hater."

That quick list from Parker didn't even mention the likes of Kelsey Mitchell, Satou Sabally, or Alicia Gray.

Reese doesn't have the skill set to be the top player on a championship-caliber team as a pro. She's an above-average starter but is nowhere close to being a viable number one option or even a fringe contender.

The fact that Reese has such a rabid fan base is great for the game, but they also have to be realistic about where she ranks in the hierarchy of the sport.

Parker isn't bitter; she's just right.
