The Montreal Canadiens didn't do anything before Friday's NHL trade deadline.
Not a peep.
It's really confusing. Almost every team in the league did something. Buying, selling, even a little bit of both.
Montreal took the week off from any front office action, apparently.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman spoke on Saturday night about what happened, and even he is a bit unsure.
"I had a theory," Friedman said. "I'd love to sit here and tell everybody I know what it is. I don't think that theory is accurate. I don't know. I don't have the answer yet. We're all going to keep working at it to figure it out."

Friedman was pressed to provide something, but he didn't go much further.
"I think it would've been big," Friedman said as part of the Saturday Headlines segment. "I can't prove it. So I'm not going to."
Obviously, there's not just an art to making a deal. There's an art to knowing when not to make a deal.
Maybe down the road, it'll look brilliant that the Canadiens held firm on whatever other teams wanted from them.
But for now, Montreal fans are probably just a little bummed. The trade deadline is an exciting time, if moves happen.
If they don't? It's pretty much a bummer.
