Lane Hutson has taken the NHL by storm from the moment he skated onto the ice for the Montreal Canadiens.

Very few defensemen have ever started a career quite like this.

Hutson has now reached the 100 games played mark for his young NHL career.

In that span, Hutson has 75 assists.

His 75 assists through 100 games are the second-most for a D-man in NHL history, behind only Mark Howe (79).

Hutson also has seven goals so far, for a total of 82 points in 100 games to begin his NHL career.

The Canadiens chose Hutson No. 62 overall in 2022 out of Boston University.

He made his debut with two games in 2023-24, dishing out two assists.

Hutson played all 82 games in 2024-25, putting up six goals and 60 assists.

So far through 16 games this season, Hutson has a goal and 13 assists.

He's still just 21 years old, not celebrating his birthday until Valentine's Day.

Hutson isn't a big dude, more of an incredibly athletic lefty than your classic bruiser of a defenseman.

It works for him, though, and his vision and precision have given him a historic start to his career. No one would be against him continuing and getting even better.
