Can you drive the KnoWay Vivanite robotaxis in GTA Online?

KnoWay is a brand-new in-game company in GTA Online that was added with A Safehouse in the Hills DLC. It is a parody of Waymo, an American company that operates driverless cabs. KnoWay uses a variant of Karin Vivanite that can drive itself around Los Santos. After the update, many players were able to see them drive around the map as well.

Though you can drive a KnoWay Vivanite taxi in GTA Online, there's a catch. Here are more details about it.

KnoWay Vivanite cab can only be driven in a specific GTA Online mission

KnoWay taxi can only be driven in the Negative Press mission

The only way to drive a KnoWay Vivanite taxi in GTA Online is by doing the Negative Press mission in the KnoWay Out mission strand.

To start this mission, you need to enter any GTA Online lobby and find the letter "A" on the map. This is where you will get a payphone call from Avi Schwartzman, who requests you to infiltrate the KnoWay taxi workshop and wreak havoc in the city while controlling one of their taxis.

You essentially need to enter the workshop, kill all the KnoWay workers, and enter a KnoWay pod to control one of the taxis.

This is the only time you will be able to drive the driverless taxi in the game, at least as of now.

What happens if you try to drive KnoWay taxi in free roam

As mentioned above, you will occasionally stumble upon a KnoWay driverless taxi driving around Los Santos. This NPC car is quite different from others since you do not have any controls to enter and control it. You will not be able to open its door or even break its door and enter the car.

It will keep moving forward after changing direction if you try to block it. The only way in which you can affect it is by blowing it up with heavy artillery.

KnoWay taxis cannot be driven or even opened in free roam mode, at least as of now. Rockstar could add new features in future updates that will eventually allow players to control them. As of now, nothing can be said for sure.
