The Yankees awoke from their stupor Thursday as they exploded for 12 runs to salvage a sweep on the road against the first-place Rays.

The 12-4 win, which was just the Yankees’ third in their past 14 games, came amid a rotten couple of weeks for the franchise and after a not-so-good-news media availability from Brian Cashman, who said he did not expect Aaron Judge’s next set of imaging on his rib injury at the All-Star break to be entirely clean. The general manager also said that Giancarlo Stanton suffered a “whole new injury” last month.

The pinstripes will hope to build upon their latest win — they play a three-game series in Washington this weekend going into the All-Star break — but the 14-hit outburst was an exception to their recent form.
