Cameron Brink Stats Tonight: Star forward's fourth-quarter takeover fuels Sparks' thrilling double OT win against Storm (Aug. 1)

Cameron Brink suited up for the LA Sparks for the second time in the ongoing WNBA season on Friday. The former Stanford forward came off the bench against the Seattle Storm as the Sparks' starting lineup featured Kelsey Plum, Azura Stevens, Julie Allemand, Rickea Jackson and Dearica Hamby.

The former Stanford star delivered a well-rounded performance and her exploits in the fourth quarter fueled the team’s 108-106 double overtime victory. Foul trouble kept her sidelined for the closing minutes of the fourth quarter and both overtime periods.

In the end, Cameron Brink finished with seven points on 3 of 7 shooting, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc. She also recorded four rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 11:39 minutes. The Sparks forward registered a -8 plus/minus rating.

Coach Lynne Roberts called Brink’s number very late in the first quarter, with just 57 seconds remaining in the period. The star forward didn’t make any significant impact in her limited first-quarter action as her only contribution came in the form of a rebound.

Brink started the second quarter for the Sparks and played just over four few minutes in the period. The Sparks forward didn’t open her account in the scoring column but made a significant impact on the defensive end.

At half time, Cameron Brink had zero points after she failed to knock down her only shot attempt from the floor, which came from beyond the arc. She recorded one rebound, one steal and one block in 5:18 minutes.

Brink struggled immensely after the halftime break. She put up three shots in the third quarter and failed to make any of her attempts from the field.

The former No. 2 pick took over the game in the fourth quarter, making big plays on both ends of the floor. After missing her first four shot attempts, Brink connected on three consecutive shots, including a 3-pointer. She also stifled the Storm’s offense with her suffocating defense and shot-blocking.
