CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Following Sportsnet’s announcement of its 2026–27 Calgary Flames broadcast schedule, the Calgary Flames are pleased to welcome Kevin Sawyer as the new game analyst and colour commentator for Flames regional broadcasts on Sportsnet.

Sawyer will join host Brendan Parker and play-by-play voice Jon Abbott in the broadcast booth for the 2026–27 Scotiabank Saddledome Farewell Season, bringing extensive experience as both a former NHL player and veteran broadcaster.

Sawyer joins the Flames after nearly a decade as a game analyst for Winnipeg Jets regional broadcasts. Prior to his broadcasting career, Sawyer appeared in 110 NHL games over six seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes and Anaheim Ducks.

Sportsnet will once again be the home of Calgary Flames regional and national broadcasts throughout the Farewell Season. The Flames open the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 1 when they host the Seattle Kraken at the Scotiabank Saddledome, before facing the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, Oct. 3 for the premiere of Sportsnet’s national Saturday Night Hockey coverage.

Sawyer will make his Flames broadcast debut on Thursday, Oct. 1, calling the Farewell Season opener against the Seattle Kraken at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
