During the lead-up to the 2026 NBA Draft, people who knew a lot about the upcoming rookies always said that Caleb Wilson had tons of potential. Of course, he is not the complete package just yet because he is a raw talent.
He did not look raw during his NBA Summer League debut for the Chicago Bulls against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Wilson dropped 35 points, which is now the Summer League record for the most points in a debut.
Caleb Wilson admits his Summer League record debut is bittersweet
In one of the most impressive performances of the 2026 Summer League so far, Wilson was quite impactful with his 35-point performance. Aside from that, he made an impact on defense with his two steals and three blocks.
As he came into the league with a reputation of being a bit of a non-shooter, Wilson proved that wrong immediately. He made seven out of 11 three-point attempts, cementing that he can be a high-level scorer.

The Bulls vs Grizzlies game was one of the most competitive of the Summer League so far. Unfortunately for Wilson and the Bulls, they lost 97-96, despite his amazing debut performance.
"We lost. That's my goal: to come here and win. It's cool, but somebody is going to break it one day, like they always do. I'm happy to get the record, but I'm ready to move on to what's next. We've got another game coming up soon," Wilson said after the close loss to Memphis.
Wilson continues to have the right attitude to shine in the NBA. He might have some amazing performances here and there, but he knows that getting wins matters the most.
Even if he has a bad game, as long as he knows he can contribute toward a victory, he will take that. However, it seems he will become an undeniable player who will always have something to say with his performances.
