Caitlin Clark’s second WNBA season has been filled with buzz and record-breaking fan support, but the Indiana Fever star won’t be on the floor for this year’s All-Star festivities. Clark announced Thursday that she won’t participate in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game or the 3-Point Contest due to a groin injury that has already sidelined her for 10 games this season.

Despite leading all vote-getters again with over 1.29 million fan votes, Clark made the tough call to sit out and focus on recovery. She addressed the decision on Instagram, expressing disappointment and noting that she re-aggravated the injury during a recent matchup with the Connecticut Sun.

Clark hasn’t played a full slate this season. The 23-year-old guard has appeared in only 13 of Indiana’s 23 games. Her averages remain strong: 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. However, her shooting numbers have dipped with a 36.7% mark from the field and just under 28% from three-point range.

Although she won’t suit up, Clark still plans to be part of the All-Star experience. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” she said she will be there to support her teammates, including fellow Fever players Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, both of whom made the All-Star roster.

Lexie Hull will take Clark’s place in the 3-Point Contest, while Brittney Sykes has been tapped to fill her All-Star Game spot on Team Clark, which faces off against Team Collier on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This weekend was expected to be a homecoming celebration of sorts for Clark in front of the Indiana fans, but her focus is now on using the All-Star break to rest and get healthier for the second half of the season.

Clark’s 2025 campaign has been riddled with caution since the preseason. With Indiana eyeing a playoff spot, the organization clearly wants its franchise star healthy for the long haul.
