If WNBA trends hold, it looks like we can expect to see the Indiana Fever in the WNBA Finals this year.
Of course, a lot can happen between now and the end of the season, but the Fever went into the 2025 season making it clear that the team wants a championship — and playing in the Commissioner's Cup Championships is a crucial step toward realizing that goal.
The last two WNBA Finals have featured teams that played one another in the Commissioner's Cup Finals in the same season. This year's Cup Finals will pit the Lynx — who lost to the Liberty during the 2024 WNBA Finals — against Clark and the Fever, a showdown that's bound to electrify fans of both teams.
On top of that, at least one team from the last three Commissioner's Cups finals has gone on to play in the WNBA Finals.
While the Fever's participation in the WNBA Finals is ultimately up to how the team performs the rest of the season, things are looking good — and the game on July 1 will likely set the ton for how the rest of the season proceeds.
