Caitlin Clark has found herself at the center of plenty of heated moments between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. That history, however, has not changed how the Fever superstar feels about the city itself.
Clark arrived in Chicago this week for the 2026 WNBA All-Star festivities, which are being hosted by the Sky. When asked about returning to a place typically considered enemy territory for Indiana, Clark offered an honest and complimentary response.
“I like Chicago, it’s a good city,” Clark said Wednesday, according to USA Sports.
It was a simple five-word message, but it stood out given the recent history between the two franchises.
Caitlin Clark leaves Fever-Sky tension on the court
The Fever-Sky rivalry quickly became one of the WNBA’s most compelling matchups following the arrivals of Clark and Angel Reese in 2024.
The two stars were already linked by their memorable college basketball battles. That connection followed them to the professional level, where every meeting between Indiana and Chicago attracted enormous attention. Physical plays, close games and heated exchanges only added to the rivalry. Although Reese’s offseason departure from Chicago changed the dynamic, Clark’s appearances in the city still carry additional meaning.
Clark made it clear that any basketball tension has not affected her appreciation for Chicago. She also sounded excited about returning with the Fever after the All-Star break.
“I’ll be excited to get back here with my team and keep this rolling,” Clark said. “I think we’re playing good basketball right now.”
Indiana entered the break tied with the Atlanta Dream atop the Eastern Conference at 16-10. The Fever also won three consecutive games before the pause, giving Clark and her teammates plenty of momentum for the second half of the season.

Caitlin Clark set for busy WNBA All-Star weekend
Clark will not have much downtime during her latest trip to Chicago. The Fever guard was selected as a starter for Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game, adding another honor to her rapidly growing résumé. Before taking the court, she is scheduled to appear Friday at WNBA Live, the league’s fan festival at McCormick Place.
Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell is also expected to participate in the event. Paige Bueckers, A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, Cameron Brink, Lauren Betts and Kaitlyn Chen are among the other WNBA players scheduled to appear. Clark has shown a willingness to embrace the fan-focused side of All-Star weekend in the past. During the 2024 festivities, she surprised fans by photobombing pictures at a meet-and-greet event hosted by one of her brand partners.
It remains to be seen whether Clark has any similar surprises planned for Chicago. Her presence alone should be enough to create one of the weekend’s largest crowds. The Fever star has helped generate record interest everywhere she has played since Indiana selected her with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Chicago has been no exception, even when the local fans have been cheering against her.
This weekend will provide a brief break from the rivalry. Clark is in Chicago to celebrate the league and compete alongside its biggest stars.Once the regular season resumes, the focus will return to Indiana’s position atop the East and another meeting with the Sky. For now, Clark is putting the rivalry aside and enjoying a city she clearly respects.
