Buffalo Bills running back James Cook wants a big contract extension. He's hinted that he wants a $15 million per year deal, but Brandon Beane has said contract talks have been shelved between the two sides.
Speaking to Tyler Dunne of Go Long, Beane says he isn't worried about Cook not showing up for voluntary workouts and understands he wants a big extension. Beane laid out what could earn him that massive pay day.
"James is working," Beane said. "I know he's down there training in South Florida. He's working. First of all, he's competitive. And sure, everyone wants to get paid and he knows he's got to still show he's James Cook - the guy we was - if he wants to get that pay day. Either from us or someone else. That's any player that doesn't currently have their contract extensions yet."
If Cook does put together another season like he did in 2024, as Beane challenges, he will certainly get paid. Whether or not that would be from the Bills or another team will be a question that gets answered in 2026.
