Bucks predicted to acquire $179 million Nuggets star in move to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay

The Milwaukee Bucks are due for some changes this offseason. However, to get back to contention, the Bucks have to make smart moves. That includes getting younger. The Bucks have been one of the oldest teams in the league, entering the 2025 season with Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Damian Lillard, all of whom were in their mid-30s or approaching that age.

The Bucks rectified that a little mid-season by trading Middleton, but to return to where the team was before, more moves like it may come. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley explained why one move Milwaukee could make is acquiring Michael Porter Jr by explaining his appeal.

“His scoring average typically lands in the high-teens, and he's a free-throw boost away from pushing for 50/40/90 club membership. Those have to be attractive numbers for a Bucks bunch looking to find more offensive punch from its supporting cast,” Buckley wrote.

How the Bucks would get him is the question. Porter will enter the fourth year of a five-year, $179 million contract with the Denver Nuggets. It’s fair to label him as expensive, but he’s also 26. Porter might be overpaid, but he is coming off a career season, averaging 18.2 points. He might be better than anyone else on the Bucks' roster who is healthy going into next year.

Porter probably won’t make an All-Star team, but he’s an NBA champion who could thrive with more touches on a team like Milwaukee. An injection of youth could be what gets Milwaukee back to where they want. At worst, he could be the start.
