For months, the trade rumors have surrounded the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
But a late-developing bit of news about Ja Morant could flip everything on its head.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Thursday morning, "I’m still being told the Bucks are engaged with the Grizzlies on Ja Morant as well."
That would be quite the twist.

There evidently is a world where, instead of trading away Giannis, the Bucks instead trade for Ja.
Morant seems like eventually he'll be moved out of Memphis, whether now or later. The Grizzlies traded away Desmond Bane in the offseason and Jaren Jackson Jr. earlier this week. Morant is the only piece of the core still to be sent out to pursue a full-on rebuild.
The Bucks surely don't love the idea of giving Antetokounmpo to another team. He's been a superhero since coming to Milwaukee, including a 50-point game to bring the Bucks their first championship in 50 years in 2021.
Sure, a Morant trade and an Antetokounmpo trade don't have to be tied together. The Bucks could still do both, on paper.
But it seems like if Milwaukee was trading for Morant, they would be doing it to pair him with Antetokounmpo.

Morant hasn't been his best self in the last year or two with the Grizzlies, but his top-end ability is still tantalizing.
The Bucks could change the future of their franchise if they pull off a Morant trade and keep Antetokounmpo. There'd be risk, but there'd also be fascinating upside.
