Bucks-Celtics absurd trade proposal sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to Boston for $285 million All-Star

NBA fans now live in a world where a 26-year-old franchise cornerstone can be unexpectedly moved for an injury-riddled superstar in his 30s. If it wasn't obvious, this is what took place in the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis blockbuster trade.

Because of how absurd this deal was, some wrongfully expect trades of similar magnitude to take place in the near future. Yes, Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison made what many see as an insane decision at the 2025 trade deadline.

No, the other 29 GMs across the league do not plan to follow suit. One anonymous executive described it best, telling ESPN's Tim MacMahon that "'It's always good to have a desperate GM out there.'"

Still, when a superstar like Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo is potentially on the move, people enjoy discussing even the wildest proposals. This includes FanSided's Michael Saenz, who predicts the Bucks to send Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Jaylen Brown and three first-round picks.

"The scary part is, Boston does have the assets that it may take to get a deal done for Giannis. And if they needed, they could trade other valuable parts of their roster for additional draft capital if they wanted," Saenz wrote. "In theory, this could be a nice return for the Bucks. Of course, that's under the assumption that Brown would express interest in being a part of the Bucks franchise moving forward."

As previously mentioned, the only reason this proposed trade isn't entirely a fantasy land, foolish idea is because of the Doncic-Davis blockbuster. The logic is if that level of shock can take place once, why can't it happen again?

Sure, the Celtics would love to have a superstar duo of Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum, but why would the Bucks ever agree to send him there?

The return of Brown and draft capital would signal Milwaukee is not giving up on contention, which means they're simply stacking their competition. If they plan to cut ties with Antetokounmpo and begin a full rebuild, then there are much greater returns on the table elsewhere.
