Buccaneers-Titans trade idea brings Baker Mayfield backup to Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense will look similar to the unit that took the field in 2024.

With Baker Mayfield at the helm again, the Bucs added Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Outside of that, there aren't expected to be many changes in regards to the starting lineup.

The depth, however, is a different story, and Tampa Bay could be a trade destination for a backup who shares some similarities to Mayfield.

Among the moves he wants to see following the draft, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports urged the Bucs to make a trade for Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis.

"Tampa Bay has been fine riding with Kyle Trask at the No. 2 quarterback spot, but do the Bucs really want to risk falling out of a feasible NFC South race if the always-gutsy Baker Mayfield goes down? Levis is expendable in Tennessee after the Titans drafted Cam Ward, and he seems like a perfect fit to sit and learn from Mayfield, who shares some of his never-say-die spunk," Benjamin wrote.

The Bucs still have Kyle Trask and Michael Pratt on the depth chart, but there's an argument that Levis could provide more value if he sat behind Mayfield.

There's certainly some upside with Levis given his arm talent, but there's even more concern about his decision-making and pocket awareness.

Tampa Bay wouldn't have to give up much for Levis after the Titans grabbed Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. If Mayfield ever went down, at least Levis might provide some entertainment — something that can't be said about Trask or Pratt.
