Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield reveals reason he 'doesn't like' the Saints

4 hours ago 1

The next chapter in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints rivalry will be written this week, and Baker Mayfield has let it be known about his feelings towards his division rivals.

On the Pardon My Take podcast in the offseason, Baker stated that he "hates" the Saints and didn't mind throwing to Mike Evans when the game was over to get his 1000 yards in the final game of the regualr season, and being a Buccaneer, that is understandable, and now that the Saints and Buccaneers will meet for the first time since that moment, sparks could fly.

But why does Baker have such a dislike for the Saints?

“Hasn't exactly been clean play from their part when we play them,” Mayfield said. “It's a physical game. I mean, it is what it is. You expect it. Division rival, not much else to say besides the fact that I don't like them.”

Buccaneers need Saints win as bounce-back from Detroit

The 24-9 loss to the Detroit Lions was a painful one for Tampa Bay as it was thoroughly outplayed all game, and now Todd Bowles' team has the chance to get back on the winner's list.

Mayfield is 3-1 against the Saints since arriving in Tampa Bay, so he has a good record against his division rival and will want that to continue in Week 8 as the 5-2 Buccaneers look to put a little separation between themselves and the chasing pack.

There will be no love lost between these two teams, and being on the road, you can be sure Baker and Co. will be getting an earful from the home crowd in what promises to be a rather hostile environment.

Mayfield hates the Saints, and you can bet the Saints have the same sentiment for Baker, and on Sunday, both collide in what looms as a rather spicy encounter.
