Buccaneers’ 437-pound Desmond Watson gets huge announcement with tush push ban vote

8 hours ago 1

Desmond Watson has one of the coolest nicknames in the NFL.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gargantuan defensive tackle was dubbed before this year’s NFL Draft as “The Tush Push Terminator.”

The Bucs signed him as an undrafted free agent after he went unselected. Watson was 464 pounds at the University of Florida but recently shared he’s 437 and trying to drop more weight.

He’s still well on pace to be the NFL’s heaviest player to appear in a regular season game, with the record currently 380 pounds.

All that makes the Wednesday vote by the NFL to not ban the tush push a crucial one for Watson.

He was never going to make or break his career just on stopping QB sneaks. But if he proves effective at that, it’s one more way for him to make a name for himself and stay on the field.

And there’s this: The Buccaneers play the Eagles on Sept. 28.

Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia are the originators of the tush push, or the Brotherly Shove if you’re from Philly.

Whether Watson is still on the roster then isn’t set in stone. But if he is, you can expect him and 350-pounds Vita Vea out there whenever the Eagles have a short yardage situation.

The Terminator will get his chance, after all.
