Zdeno Chara returned to run the Boston Marathon on Monday.
In the process, he set a new personal best time after starting the race a bit differently than usual.
First, the finish: 3 hours and 18 minutes.
Chara had previously run 3:38 in 2023 and 3:30 in 2024.
The 6-foot-9 Boston Bruins legend actually got the race underway by firing off the starting gun.
Then he himself was off, running for charity and for achievement, showing his continued commitment to this new sport.
It's a special day every year in Boston, and there are likely many Marathon supporters who find it even more special that their long-time hockey star has taken up running in this event as part of his post-hockey career.
There were fans on social media saying that Chara looks like he could get back on the ice and play right now. The Bruins lost their playoff opener to the Sabres in excruciating fashion on Sunday night.
Chara was probably sleeping already to charge up for 26.2 miles.
But hey, maybe he could still skate if called upon.
