Browns urged by ESPN writer to replace Dillon Gabriel with a different Oregon QB

The Cleveland Browns are 2-8 and look to be heading towards another top-five pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. While the 2025 season has been a disappointment, the Browns have seen some promise on offense and defense.

Quinshon Judkins, Harold Fannin Jr., Carson Schewsinger, and Mason Graham have been incredible as rookies. Schwesinger is likely to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year, while Myles Garrett is the favorite for the Defensive Player of the Year. The only issue is the quarterback room.

Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders aren't the answer for the Browns. For ESPN writer Jordan Reid, one player in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft would be a good fit for the Browns quarterback room, and it's ironically another Oregon QB.

Browns urged to replace Dillon Gabriel with another Oregon QB

"Dante Moore, QB, Oregon." Reid writes. "It would be shocking if the Browns didn't select a QB with one of their two first-round picks (or use both to trade up for a QB). Moore is a naturally smooth passer with high-level accuracy and poise. He could lift the Browns, who need a long-term answer under center."

Gabriel hasn't been the answer for the Browns, but Dante Moore, another Oregon quarterback, could be the solution.

Moore has 2,190 passing yards this season with 21 touchdowns and only five interceptions. Oregon is 9-1 and ranked seventh in the country.

While the Gabriel experiment didn't work out well for the Browns, going back to Oregon to select Moore could prove beneficial.

Only Carlos Mendoza has more NFL Draft hype, but with the New York Jets potentially picking ahead of the Browns, Moore could be the next-best option. Moore's only loss was to Mendoza and Indiana, so these two are the clear top QBs in the 2026 draft.

Reid is urging the Browns to commit to Moore as the future quarterback. While it may be off-putting for some fans to draft an Oregon quarterback for the second straight season, Moore's upside is a lot more promising than Gabriel's.
