NFL fans and analysts are buzzing over a wild Draft Day trade proposal from 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
The deal would be the Cleveland Browns sending their No. 6 and second round pick (39) to the Cowboys. Dallas is rumored to desperately want to grab Ohio State star safety Caleb Downs, but are too low at No. 12 to get him.
Cleveland’s haul in return? Both of the Cowboys first round picks (No. 12 and 20). The Browns would also have Jacksonville’s selection at 24th overall, giving them a whopping trio of first rounders.
On paper, GM Andrew Berry loves it, and this is just the type of big swing move that the eccentric Jerry Jones would make. We know Berry’s trade history with Jones. He absolutely fleeced Dallas in the March 2022 Amari Cooper trade, a move that saw the veteran wideout lead the Browns in receiving yards, and Dallas received a measly 5th round pick.

However, just because Berry has a track record of winning a trade with the Cowboys doesn't mean he should pull the trigger on this one.
It's common knowledge that this Cleveland front office adores collecting draft picks, but the Browns don’t need more "inventory." They need stars.
By sliding from No. 6 down to No. 12, Cleveland effectively removes itself from the sweepstakes for the "blue-chip" prospects. We’re talking about the elite, tier-one wide receivers and the franchise-altering offensive linemen who can protect the pocket on day one. If the Browns stay at six, they get the best or second-best player at a premium position. If they move to 12, they’re settling for the fourth or fifth option on their board.
Quantity does not beat quality when you’re trying to kick the door down in the AFC North. Three mid-to-late first-rounders are nice for depth, but they don't replace a possible upper echelon difference maker.
Berry needs to block out the noise, keep the pick, and draft a superstar. Don't get cute—stay put.
