The Cleveland Browns could move on from Shedeur Sanders before he even plays a snap in a regular season game for the team, as the former Colorado quarterback has an uphill battle to receive any playing time during his rookie season.
Instead of just cutting Sanders, Cleveland could look to trade him and get some value back. Dawg Pound Daily's Mark Sipos lists the Buffalo Bills as a top landing spot for Sanders in a trade.
"Josh Allen is locked in as the starter, and Mitchell Trubisky is back as the veteran backup. But behind them, there’s room for a developmental quarterback. Sanders would be a low-risk, high-upside addition who could sit behind Allen, learn in a structured offense, and grow without pressure. Buffalo’s staff could work on refining his timing and decision-making while giving him a stable environment to develop in the background," Sipos wrote.
A trade to the Bills would worsen Sanders' chance of playing any meaningful snaps in 2025, as league MVP Josh Allen is locked in as Buffalo's quarterback for the next decade. However, Sanders could learn a lot from Allen, and developing with the Bills for a few years could be beneficial for his career.
The 2025 fifth-round had a productive college career at Colorado and has multiple years of starting experience under his belt, but by passing on him in the draft, teams sent a message to Sanders that he isn't ready to play immediately.
Sanders could develop into a starting quarterback one day, but in the immediate future, developing and refining his game should be his focus. The 23-year-old could do that with the Browns, but if general manager Andrew Barry doesn't want to keep him, Buffalo could be a favorable destination for Sanders.
