Browns' Todd Monken reveals QB plan amid Shedeur Sanders vs. Deshaun Watson battle

The Cleveland Browns are coming into mandatory minicamp with a lot of questions to answer. Whether it's how Jared Verse looks as the Myles Garrett replacement, or how the new offensive line and receivers fare, it's a big time for Cleveland this summer.

But the biggest question is obvious about the quarterback battle between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson. There is a lot at stake here, and seeing who wins the competition will be of great interest for Browns fans.

According to Mark Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Browns head coach Todd Monken revealed the team's plan at quarterback for the remainder of mandatory minicamp that should help the team make their starting QB decision this offseason.

Todd Monken reveals Browns QB plan amid competition

"Browns Todd Monken said Shedeur Sanders had a nice day going with the ones, and it will flip back tomorrow to Deshaun Watson going with the ones. They will split them on Thursday," Cabot reports.

This is a very interesting update, both in the sense that Monken praised the production of Sanders during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp session, and in how the team plans to handle the first-team offense reps going forward.

On Wednesday, Watson is going to get the majority of the reps with the first team, just like Sanders did on Tuesday.

Then on Thursday, the two will be in more of a split with the first-team offense, which should be a greater help in figuring out who is performing better after getting an extended look the previous two days.

The Watson vs. Sanders quarterback competition this offseason isn't going to solely be decided over their production the next few days, but it is a big deal for both Watson and Sanders to perform well during mandatory minicamp.

Sanders received some praise from Monken after Tuesday, which is a good sign for his chances to win the starting job. But this competition isn't over yet, as the Browns will be determining their QB for 2026 in part due to these mandatory minicamp practices.
