Browns' Shedeur Sanders facing key deadline for first impression in Cleveland QB competition

Shedeur Sanders will need to take advantage of every opportunity he gets.

That's the only way for the former Colorado QB to make a run at the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback job.

And coming up his weekend, Sanders will get his first major test.

The Browns hold their rookie minicamp over three days from Friday through Sunday.

Given the depth the Browns have in their QB competition, Sanders has to take advantage of all his reps. There may not be opportunities in August if he doesn't first prove he deserves them in May.

The Browns even have two rookie QBs, with Sanders and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel.

The veterans waiting to compete are Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.

It seems everyone has a different prediction for who will wind up as the starter.

Some expect a veteran to get Week 1 before a rookie steps in eventually. But even in that scenario, you've got two possibilities for both spots of that fill-in-the-blank.

But the Browns have no reason to hold back a rookie if either Sanders or Gabriel shines this offseason.

Stay tuned, because the drama is really just beginning.
