The Cleveland Browns have had plenty of storylines with their quarterback room this season. From the preseason competition for the backup spot, Joe Flacco's eventual trade, and Dillon Gabriel being named the starter, there's been no shortage of change in the Browns QB room.
Ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the red-hot New England Patriots, the Browns have made a key update to their injury report.
As Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports, the Browns are adding Shedeur Sanders to the injury report on Saturday, and the fifth-round backup quarterback is now questionable for the final Browns game before the bye week.
The Browns add Shedeur Sanders to the injury report with back tightness
"The Browns are adding backup QB Shedeur Sanders to the injury report after his back tightened up," Pelissero reports. "Sanders will be listed as questionable, and Bailey Zappe will be elevated from the practice squad as a precaution in case he needs to back up Dillon Gabriel."

Sanders will be listed as questionable, and Bailey Zappe will be elevated from the practice squad as a precaution in case he needs to back up Dillon Gabriel.
Cleveland is making the trip up to New England, but it might be with an inactive Sanders if his back tightness doesn't get any better before gameday.
It's a tough matchup for the Browns, and while Gabriel is still the starter, Sanders could've had a chance to make his NFL debut. But now, he's at risk of missing the Week 8 matchup and heading into the bye week without taking a snap in the NFL.
During the preseason, Sanders went 17-29 for 152 passing yards and two touchdowns while taking seven sacks for 47 yards lost. He's yet to make his NFL regular-season debut, and if he's out, that debut will have to wait a few weeks longer.
Zappe will be Gabriel's backup if Sanders can't go. He's played with the Browns before in his NFL career, logging one start in 2024 with Cleveland, where he went 16 of 31 for 170 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Sanders, being a late addition to the injury report, isn't a good sign. Sanders could still suit up in Week 8, but even if he does, he'll still be the backup to Gabriel, as the third-round rookie is set to make his fourth start in the NFL against a strong Patriots team.
