The Cleveland Browns may be searching for a new starting quarterback in 2026.
Though the team added a plethora of signal-callers to the roster this offseason, including Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the draft, the team doesn't have a clear long-term answer at the position. Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco could be average starters, but neither move the needle, and both will hit free agency next offseason.
The Sports Banks' Paul M. Banks predicts Cleveland will land the No.3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and select LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
Nussmeier had a solid 2024 campaign for the Tigers, tossing 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions with a 64.2% completion rate. The 23-year-old is a dynamic pocket passer who has all the tools necessary to be a productive quarterback at the next level.
If Nussmeier can take his game to another level in 2025, he will be one of the top signal-callers in the 2026 draft and a surefire first-round pick.
Cleveland will likely be picking in the top half of the draft, so they should be in a position to select Nussmeier, who could finally be their long-term answer at the sport's most vital position.
