There are no surprises here, but the Cleveland Browns still had to make it official.
Expensive QB Deshaun Watson is opening training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Watson's 2024 season ended prematurely after a torn Achilles.
"Watson remains in a long rehab process and his status for the 2025 season is up in the air," writes NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The rehab process for Watson bears watching for dramatic reasons, if nothing else.
This offseason, Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam admitted it was an error to trade for Watson and his off-field baggage and then give him the most guaranteed money ever given to an NFL player.

In hopes of finding a replacement this season, the Browns have a rare four-QB competition ongoing involving Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
If Watson recovered before this season was out, it would just muddy the waters even more. Would Cleveland even want him back on the field?
That's a problem for late in the season, if at all. For now, Watson is on the PUP list, and there are a quartet of other quarterbacks seeking a starting job for the Browns.
