Browns get bold Shedeur Sanders training camp prediction that can actually happen

1 hour ago 3

The Cleveland Browns are going to be one of the most interesting teams to watch during the 2026 NFL training camp periods. The reason is simple: the quarterback competition.

Deshaun Watson vs. Shedeur Sanders has been a close battle this offseason, and Todd Monken has delayed announcing a starter yet, which has seemingly opened the door for Sanders to win this job.

Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon made a bold prediction that this QB battle would go Sanders' way, and he'd win the QB1 job in Cleveland. While this is a "bold" prediction, it's actually one that is quite realistic for the Browns' second-year QB.

Shedeur Sanders is predicted to win QB1 job during training camp

"Shedeur Sanders wins starting quarterback job in Cleveland," Gagnon predicts. "... It's just going to be too hard for Watson to suddenly revive his career after so much time off the pedestal, and Sanders has the tools to become something awesome in this league."

This prediction from Gagnon, while made alongside several other "bold" predictions, isn't that bold at all. It might even be how the competition is trending right now.

Sanders impressed during OTAs and minicamp, and the indication has been that if he hadn't impressed, Watson would've already won the QB1 job this offseason.

But, with Sanders making up ground in this position battle, it's looking more and more possible that he comes out on top.

Sanders winning the starting quarterback job is a lot more realistic now than it was to begin the offseason. This prediction has a legitimate chance to actually happen.

Besides, Sanders being the starter just makes a lot more sense for the Browns long-term than Watson. His upside is far greater than Watson's right now, and he's also a lot cheaper and going to be with the team for the next three years on his rookie contract.

Even if Sanders struggles in 2026, giving him a chance to prove his worth this upcoming season makes a whole lot more sense than giving Watson another chance.

But Sanders first needs to win this QB competition, and training camp is a huge time for him to win this battle. Gagnon is predicting the 2025 fifth-rounder beats Watson, and it's a very realistic prediction despite earning a bold label.
