Browns free agent Jedrick Wills gets surprising update about possible contract

23 hours ago 2

Jedrick Wills Jr. has remained a free agent longer than he was likely expecting.

The former Browns offensive tackle remains unsigned more than a month into free agency.

Wills is coming off knee issues in 2024, so that could be contributing to the long wait.

The lack of interest does open up a new possibility, though. What if Wills returns to Cleveland?

"The Browns don't have any good options at left tackle as things stand now," Factory of Sadness writer Cem Yolbulan wrote. "Dawand Jones is coming off an injury, and he will likely miss training camp. He hasn't been very good when he has been on the field, either... Wills is obviously not the most exciting name to throw out there, but bringing him in for training camp competition would only benefit the Browns."

Wills is still only 25 and was drafted by the Browns at No. 10 overall out of Alabama in 2020.

He has started 57 games in his Cleveland career, although only made it through five games in 2024 and eight games in 2023.

Wills, at 6-foot-5 and 307 pounds, was ranked 109th out of 141 offensive tackles for 2024 by Pro Football Focus.

He's regarded as a much better pass blocker than run blocker at this stage of his career.

Cleveland is in an odd phase of possible rebuilding and doesn't necessarily need Wills.

There's a chance Wills needs the Browns, though, to have a team to play for in 2025. And at least they'd be very familiar with one another.
