Browns cut ties with 3 players to bring back Gage Larvadain, few others

The Cleveland Browns made a bit of a surprising move at the end of last week when they waived Gage Larvadain.

It was the roster decision they felt they had to make to clear space for Quinshon Judkins' activation to the 53-man roster, but it exposed the talented rookie wide receiver to potential claiming by another team.

In the end, Larvadain wasn't claimed, and the Browns found a way to bring him back.

On Tuesday, Cleveland announced the signing of four players to their practice squad. Larvadain was one of them.

Larvadain went to Southeastern Louisiana University out of high school in that state, and he also joined their basketball team as a walk-on.

He was the Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and spent two seasons at SELA, including 11 basketball games.

After those two years, he transferred to Miami (Ohio), where he had 42 catches for 679 yards and six TDs.

After that season, he transferred to South Carolina. With the Gamecocks, he had 19 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown.

He made it from rookie minicamp to the Browns' summer roster and impressed in the preseason, too.

Joining Larvadain as new practice squad signings are cornerback Trey Avery and offensive tackles Joshua Miles and Tyre Phillips.

The Browns needed to clear three players off the practice squad to have the requisite room.

The three players released: cornerback LaMareon James, defensive tackle Ralph Holley and offensive tackle Logan Brown.

The highlight here is Larvadain, who can genuinely help the Browns down the road if given the chance.
