Brother of suspected trans Blues Brother killer has astonishing reaction to sibling’s alleged crime

The brother of a transgender woman who allegedly murdered a millionaire developer, before surrendering to authorities dressed up as a Blues Brother, didn’t know his sibling was transitioning — and was shocked to hear of his alleged crime.

John Simmons, who lives in Massachusetts, said he had no idea that his estranged brother Robert went by Eleanor Beaulieu, or that his brother had killed someone, until he was informed by the media.

“I haven’t heard from Robert in years… I’m not even sure how many,” he told The Daily Mail.

“I have no idea what he’s been doing, I really can’t help you with that, I’m sorry,” he added.

Simmons, who admitted he was unaware that his sibling was identifying as a woman, said that he didn’t “know why he would do something like that.”

A SWAT team cornered Beaulieu in the deceased 92-year-old man’s $6.3 million home last Saturday, arresting him after a 7-hour siege.

He emerged from the home dressed in a fedora and suit, similar to the 1980 action movie The Blues Brothers.

Beaulieu had barricaded himself inside the residence and said he was armed until police finally coaxed him out and arrested him.

It’s unclear why Beaulieu would allegedly kill Demetrius Doukoullos, a wealthy retired property developer. Doukoullos had signs of trauma and was decomposing, the medical examiner told The Daily Mail.

It is unclear if the two knew each other.

Beaulieu, meanwhile, had a recent criminal history.

He was arrested on second-degree robbery charges in Los Angeles in February 2025, but was released and the charges were dropped.

Last month, he was arrested and cited by police in Redondo Beach for shoplifting.

Neighbors began to worry about Doukoullos when they no longer saw him on his front porch, where he was often seen relaxing.

An upstairs neighbor then smelled a nasty odor coming from his unit and spotted a suspicious person entering it. They contacted the landlord, who then asked the police for a wellness check.

“The reporting party stated that a tenant who lives alone had not been heard from in several days,” police told The Daily Mail.

“With the assistance of the landlord or the realtor, they granted us access to go inside and they located somebody that was inside that did not match the description of the resident,” they added.

Officers spotted someone running into a bedroom and locking the door.

Beaulieu then made a statement that he “was armed and barricaded herself inside of the residence,” they said.

After seven hours, as police prepared to breach the residence, a baggy-suited Beaulieu came out.

Police have arrested Beaulieu on murder charges and are holding her at the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail on a $2 million bond.
