Brooklyn teacher who went by online handle “NYSubSlut” caught with sick child sex images: feds

A New York City public school teacher is facing federal child porn charges after he was caught with a thumb drive of disturbing images, Brooklyn federal prosecutors said.

Joseph Taylor McKeel, a science teacher at Independence High School in Hell’s Kitchen, was arrested Wednesday morning at his Brooklyn home after authorities found him with 150 images of child sexual abuse that he got from a social media app, according to a criminal complaint.

McKeel — who used the online username “NYSubSlut” — was discovered by the FBI after undercover operatives with the Scottish police first spotted him trading child porn over Zoom in September with an online group, called “Just guys and football” — who were suspected of sharing child porn, the feds said.

Authorities were able to trace McKeel’s username’s IP address back to him — which eventually led to US federal agents obtaining a warrant to search McKeel’s home,

McKeel was listed as “Taylor McKeel” on the staff directory at Independence High School before the webpage was scrubbed sometime this week.

He was charged with possession of child pornography and arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday.

McKeel was released on $200,000 bond and ordered by Brooklyn Magistrate Judge Vera M. Scanlon to be placed in a drug treatment program.

His attorney, Kyla Wells, declined to comment Friday.

The Post reached out to the city’s Department of Education seeking comment.
