Last time we saw Bo Nix out on the football field, the Denver Broncos star quarterback fractured his ankle in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs against the Buffalo Bills in January.
Nix underwent surgery shortly after suffering the injury, and then he had a follow-up surgery last month.
Bo Nix expected to be ready for Broncos training camp
Obviously the news of a second surgery was alarming for Broncos fans. But Broncos coach Sean Payton eased concerns with an encouraging update on Nix.
Peyton said that Nix will be good to go well before the start of training camp and could even be a limited participant at minicamp next month, which is exactly what Broncos fans wanted to hear.
"He'll be well ahead of time for training camp,'' Payton said. "... We're going to be the ones kind of holding him back if you will.'
"He's going to want to push that earlier, but I'm probably, you know, we'll be smart ... you'll see him probably in [the mandatory] minicamp (June 16-18) -- probably. He'll be full speed throwing, everything, in July before we get back here. He's doing good.''
There will be some high expectations for Nix heading into his third season in the league, so it's good that everything seems to be moving in the right direction with his health.
