The Denver Broncos have a nearly complete roster, one that they feel is ready for a run at the Super Bowl. But if there is one thing that stands out as a weakness in that group, it might be depth at the inside linebacker position.

The Broncos made re-signing mainstays Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad a priority this offseason, but the decision to release Dre Greenlaw left them thin at the position. Could the Broncos consider another veteran as an insurance policy?

Carter Bahns of CBS Sports took a look at the status of free-agent linebacker Bobby Wagner and noted that a return to the Washington Commanders. But if that is not in the cards, Bahns lists the Broncos as a team that could be a good fit for him.

"The Denver Broncos can be expected to draft an inside linebacker to fill out what is an aging group, but that doesn't have to stop them from bringing in another veteran in the interim. They just released Dre Greenlaw, which opens up a starting opportunity next to Alex Singleton. Justin Strnad can step into that role, but why not raise the group's ceiling a bit higher by welcoming a perennial All-Pro? This defense is already elite and would remain Super Bowl-caliber if Wagner entered on a one-year deal", wrote Bahns.

Could Bobby Wagner join the Broncos as a free agent?

When a player with as many seasons under their belt as Wagner has, the main thing that player is looking for is an opportunity to get to and win a Super Bowl.

Wagner has spent the past two seasons in Washington, but won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks team that crushed the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. After winning last year's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, Wagner's career is nearly complete.

The former second-round pick is considered by many to be a future Hall-of-Fame player. He will turn 36 years old in June and with the sun beginning to set on his career, he is looking for perhaps one more shot at winning it all. He could have that chance with the Broncos in 2026.
