The NFL offseason is ramping up again, with the draft taking place Thursday and team’s offseason programs beginning to start up.

49ers quarterback Brock Burdy has been the talk of the offseason, with the quarterback’s contract situation in San Francisco a frequent topic of discussion throughout NFL circles.

Tuesday afternoon, Purdy’s contract situation got a massive update from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“49ers QB Brock Purdy, who has been discussing a new deal with San Francisco, is in attendance today for the start of the team’s off-season workout program. Some thought Purdy might have stayed away without a new deal, but that’s not the route Purdy chose,” Schefter wrote on X formerly known as Twitter.

Some of the top superstars in the league have been known to hold out of training camp, but Purdy has seemingly chosen the high road as a captain of the 49ers.

Purdy resigning to San Francisco has always seemed like a logical conclusion. Still, the longer negotiations take to materialize, fans will continue to wonder if a new team may be in his future.

In other news, San Francisco’s tight end George Kittle was not present for phase 1 of the voluntary program — both players are negotiating new deals.

Purdy is entering the last year of his rookie deal and is in line for a significant raise in 2025. He’s been underpaid throughout his time in the NFL and was famously selected as “Mr. Irrelevant” with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State.

The 49ers were 6-11 this past year. Purdy threw for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024.
