Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari acknowledged that “people make mistakes” after the pop star’s DUI arrest in California Wednesday night.

The model and fitness trainer, 32, addressed his embattled ex’s shocking arrest during an interview with Fox News on Thursday.

“When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that, but I think everybody deserves privacy and I hope that the press has learned from the past [and] they give her the privacy that she needs,” Asghari told the outlet.

The “Toxic” singer and Asghari tied the knot in June 2022 after years of dating. They separated just 14 months later amid allegations of infidelity and erratic behavior and divorced in May 2024.

Despite their rocky and short-lived marriage, Asghari said that he “will always have love for her” more than a year after their divorce was finalized.

“Our marriage was very real to me,” he told People in August 2025. “It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always.”

Spears, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence after she was spotted swerving her BMW in and out of traffic in California Wednesday night.

Page Six confirmed that the troubled pop star singer was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County around 9:28 p.m. local time and booked at 3:02 a.m.

Spears was also taken to the hospital to get blood drawn so officials could determine her blood alcohol content before being released from police custody at 6:07 a.m. on Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol told Page Six on Thursday that Spears was allegedly under the influence of a cocktail of drugs and alcohol when she was taken into custody.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ longtime manager, Cade Hudson, told Page Six in a statement regarding Spears’ arrest.

“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Spears has a court date scheduled for May 4.

But Asghari wouldn’t be the “Stronger” singer’s only ex-husband to speak out following her DUI arrest.

Jason Alexander, who was married to Spears for 55 hours in 2004, defended her on social media and asked everyone to “slow down” judging the Grammy winner and “let the facts come out.”

“Rumors spread faster than facts, and suddenly someone is being judged before the truth is even clear,” Alexander, 44, said on Instagram. “Britney Spears deserves the same thing anyone else does: facts, fairness and due process.”

Kevin Federline, 47, has not yet addressed Spears’ arrest publicly.

An insider claimed that Federline’s recent memoir, “You Thought You Knew,” is to blame for the “downhill” spiral that led to Spears’ DUI arrest.

“It was the Kevin book that really sent her over the edge, and it’s been downhill from there,” an insider told Page Six. “It really impacted her emotionally.”

The pair tied the knot in 2004 and welcomed sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, before separating in 2006. They finalized their divorce the following year.
