Nicola Coughlan Teases 'Bridgerton' Season 4 (Exclusive)
It's time to get those dance cards ready.
Netflix released a teaser video for the fourth season of Bridgerton, which is set to arrive in 2026, and the clip gives fans a taste of the infamous masquerade ball scene between Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), whose romance takes center stage in the upcoming installment.
In the video shared to YouTube May 14, Benedict—wearing an all-black ensemble that includes a matching face covering—makes his way through the crowded ball room while nearby women whisper about his arrival. However, the second Bridgerton son stops abruptly when he spots Sophie—rocking a stunning silver gown and white masquerade mask—admiring an ornate chandelier from across the room.
Before he can make his way over to the mysterious attendee of Lady Bridgerton's gathering, however, another masked man approaches Sophie and asks, "Pardon me, young lady, could I trouble you for the next dance?"
And the masquerade ball scene—which also serves as a pivotal plot point in Julia Quinn's fourth Bridgerton novel, An Offer from a Gentleman—wasn't the only glimpse fans got at Benedict and Sophie's love story.
Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell recently provided insight into what to expect from Benedict's character arc during the fourth season of the regency era drama, which also stars Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton).
"Benedict is a character who we all have been rooting for," she told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published May 14. "We’re deeply invested in his story, and it’s been really exciting trying to shake him out of his normal routine, and the only way we were able to do that was with a character as dynamic as Sophie."
Netflix
As for Sophie? Jess admitted that her character is "based in a Cinderella trope."
"But she is no damsel in distress," the showrunner continued. "She is someone who has chess moves and is always thinking two, three steps ahead. She’s absolutely going to throw Benedict for a loop."
While you wait for Bridgerton season four—as well as seasons five and six—to hit your TV screen, read on for shows set to premiere this year.
