Jonathan Bailey Reveals His Future on Bridgerton

It’s time to prepare for the most anticipated masquerade ball of the season.

Netflix confirmed that the fourth season of Bridgerton will be hitting the streaming service in two parts in 2026, with the first half premiering on Jan. 29 and the second half arriving on Feb. 26.

In addition to the exciting premiere news, fans were treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming season, which focuses on bohemian second son Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and the captivating Lady in Silver he meets at his mother’s masquerade ball, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

The teaser features Benedict—clad in black and wearing a black mask over his eyes—going down a winding staircase as Sophie, wearing her silver gown, long white gloves and a bejeweled silver mask, goes up.

As the couple passes each other, they slow down, gently brushing their hands before the scene cuts to Benedict and Sophie among guests in the main ballroom. In the final shot, Sophie’s glove is seen laying on the floor.

“With each passing season, one is known to experience plenty of ups and downs,” Julie Andrew’s Lady Whistledown can be heard narrating. “So then we must ask ourselves, do we rise to the occasion? As always, time and this author will tell.”

This season’s poster also gave another look at Sophie and Benedict, featuring Sophie in her masquerade gown and mask as Benedict—maskless—gazes at her.

And there’s already plenty to be excited about when it comes to the upcoming installment of the series, which also stars Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton). As showrunner Jess Brownell shared, she’s excited for viewers to see a new side of Benedict this season, which is based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton book, An Offer From a Gentleman.

"Benedict is a character who we all have been rooting for," she told Entertainment Weekly in May. "We’re deeply invested in his story, and it’s been really exciting trying to shake him out of his normal routine, and the only way we were able to do that was with a character as dynamic as Sophie."

And while Sophie is “based in a Cinderella trope,” Jess was quick to note that “she is no damsel in distress.”

"She is someone who has chess moves and is always thinking two, three steps ahead,” the showrunner added. “She’s absolutely going to throw Benedict for a loop."

And as Luke explained, he is thrilled about the chance to play out this dynamic love story

"What's striking about season four is that it's the struggle between a proper old school fairytale," the 37-year-old said to Netflix's Tudum when production started last year. "The romance of it, and the actual reality of the world."

He continued, "And both are true. You have to hold both of them—the romance and the reality—in your hand. In its best version, ‘true love' happens in the middle of that."
