Bridgerton Author Julia Quinn revealed if there are plans to recast any members of the Bridgerton family in upcoming seasons.
Why ‘Bridgerton’ Fans Are Appalled by This Season 4 Plot Hole
Prepare for a few new faces in the ton.
As Bridgerton season four heats up between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), author Julia Quinn revealed that future seasons of the hit Netflix show could be recast—and the choice isn’t completely hers to make.
“I don’t necessarily know how they’re gonna spin it or write it,” Julia told Us Weekly in an interview published Feb. 7, “or what they’re going to keep and change.”
Specifically, Julia addressed speculation that the roles of youngest Bridgerton siblings Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) and Gregory (Will Tilston) would be reassigned by the time it was their turns to enter the marriage mart.
“It’s funny because they were, like, 12 and 13 when they started,” she explained. “If you asked me that back then, I’d be like, ‘I don’t know.’ But when I saw them again at the premiere, they were both drinking wine.”
She added, “They’re both 18 now and Will was there with his girlfriend.”
With plans for the Regency Era-inspired series to run for eight seasons—one for each of the novels in the book series that follows the eight Bridgerton siblings—Julia noted that before production gets into the weeds of Hyacinth and Gregory’s love stories, Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) are showrunner Jess Brownell’s top priority.
“Jess has said the next two seasons will be either Eloise and then Francesca or Francesca and then Eloise, which makes sense,” the 56-year-old continued. “It takes a few years to film, so by the time we get to Hyacinth and Gregory, the actors are going to be well into their 20s.”
“So I think it’ll probably be OK,” she added. “Will it be weird that we knew them when they were 12? We see child stars grow up all the time.”

But the New York Times bestselling author can see why it may be hard for viewers to see Florence and Will in more mature roles. After all, when she was writing their books It’s In His Kiss and On the Way to the Wedding, Julia also grappled with penning the characters into adult narratives.
“As a writer, it was hard to write those two books at first,” she explained. “I really had to let them grow up in my mind a bit and that was hard for both of them. I was really glad it took several years, but even so, I can’t remember how much time passed in the writing.”
She added, “I really had to let them grow up. It was tough.”
As we wait for part two of Bridgerton season four, dropping on Netflix Feb. 26, make haste in continuing to read for a behind-the-scenes look at the series.
