The Milwaukee Brewers are sitting atop the NL Central, and look to be in great shape to win the division so far. But, they could still use some help between now and the MLB trade deadline.
Besides infield and bullpen help, another starting pitcher has been atop the Brewers' list of needs this season. While they've yet to make a splash, they have added a free-agent pitcher who could factor into the mix this season.
According to Robert Murray of Fansided.com, the Brewers are set to sign free-agent right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson after stints with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs this season.
Brewers to sign free-agent righty pitcher Bryse Wilson
"Free-agent pitcher Bryse Wilson and the Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a contract, according to sources familiar with the deal," Murray reports.
The Brewers could use some extra pitching help this season, and Wilson, the veteran right-hander, is not the worst free-agent option they could've turned to.
This season, he's gone 9.2 innings of work with a 6.52 ERA and eight strikeouts across three games. In two games with the Cubs across 7.2 innings, he has an 8.22 ERA. But in one outing and 2.0 innings with the Phillies, he has a 0.00 ERA.
In his big league career, Wilson has a 20-23 record in 166 games with a 4.86 ERA, 341 strikeouts, and a 1.41 WHIP across 470.2 innings pitched.

He spent time with the Brewers back in 2023 and 2024, where he posted a 2.58 ERA in 76.2 innings and a 4.04 ERA in 104 innings, respectively.
Wilson also played for the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates during his career, and in 2025, he had a 6.65 ERA with the Chicago White Sox.
In the minor leagues this season, all with the Phillies Triple-A affiliate, he had a 6.29 ERA in 12 games (11 starts) across 54.1 innings of work.
Now, after the Cubs designated him for assignment on July 4, the Brewers are picking him up to add to their pitching depth this summer, a few days before the All-Star break, and a few weeks ahead of the trade deadline.
