Brewers flame-throwing 4.36 ERA righty predicted to win NL Cy Young over Paul Skenes

The Milwaukee Brewers traded their best starting pitcher this offseason to the New York Mets, as Freddy Peralta joined a top contender in the NL East in a blockbuster trade.

But the Brewers still are contenders themselves, and they have some pitchers ready to take over in 2026. One of those pitchers is a flame-throwing 4.36 ERA righty named Jacob Misiorowski.

Eno Sarris of The Athletic made a very bold prediction for Misiorowski, in that the 23-year-old righty would win the NL Cy Young award over Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes. It's a very bold prediction from Sarris, but one that's not impossible.

Jacob Misiorowski predicted to win NL Cy Young

"Jacob Misiorowski wins the NL Cy Young," Sarris predicts. "Everyone knows Misiorowski throws super hard and that he lacks command. Even he laughed about that this spring."

While Skenes won the NL Cy Young award last season with a sub 2.00 ERA year, there's no guarantee that he, or someone like Yoshinobu Yamamoto from the Los Angeles Dodgers or Cristopher Sanchez from the Phillies, would have a Cy Young caliber season.

And, even if they do, Misiorowski could put together an other-worldly season for the Brewers in 2026. His incredible fastball and solid breaking pitches could have Misiorowski breaking out in a big way.

The 2025 All-Star was solid last year, but he finished out his regular season with a 4.36 ERA in 14 starts (15 games). He was not bad by any means, but he wasn't exceptionally good either.

Going from such a season to the NL Cy Young would be a massive leap for Misiorowski to make. There's no denying his talent and upside, but for it all to come together this upcoming season would be a stunning outcome for the young Brewers righty.

This spring, across two starts, Misiorowski has a 2.68 ERA in 7.1 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts and a 1.23 WHIP.

Last year in the postseason, he posted a 1.50 ERA in three games, none of which were as a starter. But across his 12 innings pitched, Misiorowski struck out 16 batters and walked only three en route to a strong postseason.

Winning the NL Cy Young after such a season would be a major surprise, but this wouldn't be a bold prediction from Sarris if it didn't seem to be so impossible to happen.
