Breece Hall to sign $45.75 million extension that's a great move for the Jets

The New York Jets have had a bit of a tumultuous last year with running back Breece Hall. He was great this past season, but there was plenty of buzz about a trade.

He stayed in New York and was then franchise tagged this offseason. The Jets clearly wanted to keep him around long-term, and that's exactly what they did after the draft.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jets and Hall agree on a $45.75 million contract extension for the next three years.

"BREAKING: The Jets and RB Breece Hall are in agreement on a 3-year deal worth up to $45.75M, making him the NFL's 3rd highest paid RB, per multiple sources," Schultz reports.

This $45.75 million extension for Hall is some great news for the Jets, as it's a fantastic deal for New York for a few reasons.

Why Breece Hall's $45.75M extension is great move for Jets

With the Jets spending so much money on a running back, it's a bit of an odd move for a team that isn't a Super Bowl contender.

At least, that might normally be the case. The Jets actually have a good offensive line this year, so Hall should be able to produce for the Jets' offense.

Not only will Hall look to have a decent situation, but when the new quarterback of the future, very likely a high draft pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, comes to the franchise, he will have an elite running back to pair with Garrett Wilson in the offense.

Along with the Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. additions, the Jets offense actually looks like one of the better landing spots for a rookie quarterback next year.

This Hall extension isn't just about keeping a franchise favorite in New York for the foreseeable future; it's about setting the new QB up for success.

The Jets and Hall agreeing with this deal is great news for the franchise, as it's the exact kind of move the Jets needed to make, looking ahead to the future.
