Since 1994, the Braves and Phillies have been division rivals. Both franchises have enjoyed some glory eras in that span, from the late-90s Atlanta contenders, to the late-2000s Philadelphia squads.
Despite a long history of tense matchups, it wasn't until Thursday that the Braves closed out a series win against the Phillies.
With Atlanta's Game 3 win in the NL Wild Card series to eliminate Philadelphia, the Braves have finally won a postseason series over their rival after previously coming up short twice in the last four years.
Here's a look at the updated Braves vs. Phillies postseason history.

Braves vs. Phillies postseason history
Prior to 2026, the Braves and Phillies had met three times in the postseason dating back to the 1993 NLCS, when Philadelphia won 4-2 and advanced to the World Series. As the underdog in that series, the Phillies stunned a Braves squad that won 104 games in the regular season led by Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz.
It wasn't until 2022 that the division rivals finally met in the postseason again. Atlanta, as the NL East champion, took on the Wild Card-winning Phillies, who took that momentum to a 3-1 series victory en route to a World Series berth before falling to the Astros.
The next year, it was the same story. Atlanta won the division, but the Phillies once again took their rival down 3-1 in the NLDS before losing to Arizona in the NLCS.
Now, after three unsuccessful tries over 33, the Braves have eliminated the Phillies from the postseason for the first time, set to face the Dodgers in the NLDS.
