Braves re-sign ex-Dodgers, Reds veteran infielder with .693 OPS

The Atlanta Braves made a notable roster move on Tuesday night, re-signing an infielder who was previously let go by the organization. 

He provides quality infield depth but didn't play much when he was with the NL East club. 

According to Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors, the Braves have signed Kyle Farmer to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. 

Farmer appeared in just 12 games with the Braves, collecting four hits in 16 trips to the plate. He spent six weeks on the IL with a strained right forearm.

"It wasn’t a great use of a roster spot despite Farmer’s strong clubhouse reputation," Franco wrote about Farmer's first stint with the Braves.

The 35-year-old made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and has also spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins, and Colorado Rockies. 

Across a 10-year big league career, Farmer is a .247/.306/.387 hitter with 63 home runs and a .693 OPS. 

He does bring defensive versatility, as he can shift from shortstop to either second or third base.
